چکیده

Leaves of Lotus japonicus infected by powdery mildew accumulate isoflavonoids, especially vestitol and sativan as protective compounds, whereas their flavonol-glycosides or phenylpropanoic acids content were rather decreased. For a better understanding the induction phytoalexin production in L. japonicus, influence important signalling molecules, namely methyl jasmonate salicylic acid, was tested leaf application, up to 15 d. No effects after spraying leaves with 0.5 mM acid observed regarding plant isoflavonoid content, showed moderate effect on accumulation. Chitosan application led strong increase derivative also increased. In similar way infection, ferulic kaempferol glycosides decreased, except for one compound, identified kaempferol-6-deoxyhexose, that is result acetylation glycosides. The chitosan an approximately 2.5- 3.5-fold hydrogen peroxide indicating involvement H2O2 pathway. activity key enzyme phenolic biosynthesis, phenylalanine amonia lyase (PAL), stimulated well expression 3 PAL-isogenes (LjPAL4, LjPAL6, LjPAL9), LjPAL8 Moreover, two enzymes biosythesis: pterocarpan reductase isoflavone synthase strongly induced. data suggest acts elicitor fungal attack do not lead general stimulation metabolism phenols, but specific isoflavonoid-phytoalexine production, vestitol.

The small GTPase ROP6 interacts with NFR5 and is involved in nodule formation in Lotus japonicus.

Nod Factor Receptor5 (NFR5) is an atypical receptor-like kinase, having no activation loop in the protein kinase domain. It forms a heterodimer with NFR1 and is required for the early plant responses to Rhizobium infection. A Rho-like small GTPase from Lotus japonicus was identified as an NFR5-interacting protein. The amino acid sequence of this Rho-like GTPase is closest to the Arabidopsis (Ar...

Nitrate assimilation in Lotus japonicus.

This paper summarizes some recent advances in the understanding of nitrate assimilation in the model legume Lotus japonicus. First, different types of experimental evidence are presented that emphasize the importance of the root in the nitrate-reducing assimilatory processes in this plant. Secondly, the main results from an ethyl methanesulphonate mutagenesis programme are presented. In this pr...

NUCLEOPORIN85 is required for calcium spiking, fungal and bacterial symbioses, and seed production in Lotus japonicus.

In Lotus japonicus, seven genetic loci have been identified thus far as components of a common symbiosis (Sym) pathway shared by rhizobia and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. We characterized the nup85 mutants (nup85-1, -2, and -3) required for both symbioses and cloned the corresponding gene. When inoculated with Glomus intraradices, the hyphae managed to enter between epidermal cells, but they w...

The K+-dependent asparaginase, NSE1, is crucial for plant growth and seed production in Lotus japonicus.

The physiological role of K(+)-dependent and K(+)-independent asparaginases in plants remains unclear, and the contribution from individual isoforms during development is poorly understood. We have used reverse genetics to assess the phenotypes produced by the deficiency of K(+)-dependent NSE1 asparaginase in the model legume Lotus japonicus. For this purpose, four different mutants were identi...

Network of GRAS transcription factors involved in the control of arbuscule development in Lotus japonicus.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, in symbiosis with plants, facilitate acquisition of nutrients from the soil to their host. After penetration, intracellular hyphae form fine-branched structures in cortical cells termed arbuscules, representing the major site where bidirectional nutrient exchange takes place between the host plant and fungus. Transcriptional mechanisms underlying this cellular...
